How can a battery storage system help you?
If your business already has solar panels and part of the generated electricity is being injected into the grid, a battery storage system can increase your self-consumption. The impact of this depends on the remaining consumption and the amount of injected electricity.
Note, the electricity flowing to the batteries is not being injected into the grid at that moment, so you do not receive an injection compensation. The benefit lies in the difference between the consumption price (€/MWh) and the injection compensation (€/MWh).
Peak Shaving
By installing an industrial battery storage system, you can save on the capacity tariff. The peaks in your business are flattened, which applies to both low-voltage connections and medium-voltage connections. Subsidy for businesses
With the GREEN call (Greener and More Efficient Energy Use in Industry), the Flemish government provides financial support for companies that invest in the transition from fossil fuels to green energy carriers (greening) and/or reduce the total energy demand of the company by improving the energy efficiency of a core activity/process (energy efficiency). Both new and replacement investments are eligible.
This support is available for SMEs, large companies, and non-profit organizations (vzw) with an economic activity.
The subsidy can be up to 40%.

Insight into imbalance and frequency containment reserve (FCR)
Imbalance in the electricity grid occurs when the predicted energy production and consumption do not align with the actual values. This can lead to frequency fluctuations and potential grid instability.
Frequency Containment Reserve (FCR) is a primary reserve that automatically and almost instantly responds to correct frequency deviations and stabilize the grid. Companies with flexible energy storage systems, such as batteries, can contribute to FCR while simultaneously generating additional income by participating in these markets.
